We build things that tell people something true about themselves.

In Akan folklore, Ananse the spider bargained with Nyame, the sky god, for every story in the world. He won them, and then he told them — which is why, in Ghana, folk tales are called anansesem to this day.

We took the name because the work rhymes. Software mostly hands people a pile of undifferentiated options and calls it choice. We're more interested in the older job: gathering what's scattered, weaving it into something a person recognises as their own, and handing it back as a story they'd actually tell.

It's also a good reminder of scale. Ananse never wins by being the biggest thing in the room.
